COVID-19: Edwards' Response
April 21, 2020
Dear Trusted Partners and Patients:
As the global health care community continues to fulfill its mission to care for those in need, I am grateful for the passion and tireless dedication of health care providers on the front lines treating patients. I am also humbled by the resilience, resolve and commitment of our employees, partners and local communities in their response during this pandemic.
Each day continues to be a learning experience as the global response to COVID-19 and the needs of those impacted evolves rapidly. We are encouraged and inspired by the progress that the global health care community has made in the fight against COVID-19. We have deep empathy for patients who face unprecedented fears as they consider their treatment options, and we are reassured that more clarity on treatment pathways is continuing to develop.
We recognize the urgent needs in our communities, and we feel fortunate that we can continue supporting the impactful work of our charitable partners. In addition to the accelerated grants we have provided to community partners to help with emergency services on the front lines, we are also donating critical care monitoring technologies to strengthen intensive care units for underserved patients. These products are supported by our employees, in-person and virtually, who are helping health care providers have real-time and actionable information to ensure optimal care for their critically ill patients.
I would like to thank our incredible employees who each day continue their work – some in remote work settings that bring unique challenges – and others who leave their homes to ensure the development, manufacture and delivery of our life-saving technologies to patients in more than 100 countries. The unwavering commitment of our global manufacturing employees means that structural heart patients with urgent needs can continue to be treated, and the increasing number of critically ill patients can be closely monitored at a time when they need it most. We also have teams providing their support in health care facilities around the world, living our Credo: Helping Patients is Our Life’s Work, and Life is Now.
Because of our strong team, community-minded employees and patient-focused culture, I have absolute confidence in our ability to successfully navigate this global crisis. We know that when we act with purpose and as trusted partners, we create a community unified in its mission to improve the quality of life around the world.
Please take care,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
