2018 World's Most Ethical Companies
For the second year in a row, Edwards Lifesciences was recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the 2018 World’s Most Ethical Companies. Edwards is the only honoree in the medical devices industry, underscoring our commitment to leading with integrity and prioritizing ethical business practices. In 2018, 135 honorees were recognized, spanning 23 countries and 57 industries.
America’s Most JUST Companies
Edwards Lifesciences was honored by being named one of America’s Most JUST Companies, according to Forbes and JUST Capital, a nonprofit that ranks the largest publicly traded corporations in the United States on the issues Americans care about most. Edwards ranked #1 in our industry and #24 overall out of 875 for America's best corporate citizens. Edwards was recognized for outperforming its peers on the criteria deemed to be most important, including worker pay and treatment, job creation, healthy products and communities, environmental impact, and more.
Harvard Business Review
Our CEO, Michael Mussallem, was honored as one of the Best-Performing CEOs in the World in 2017 by the Harvard Business Review. This ranking relies on objective performance measures over a chief executive’s entire tenure. Of 898 CEO’s reviewed, Mussallem was listed at #21 based on financial and non-financial metrics, such as total shareholder return, increase in market capitalization, and environmental, social and governance metrics. “We think it’s important to recognize leaders who are delivering strong financial performance and creating sustainable businesses over the long term – not just quarter to quarter,” said HBR Editor in Chief Adi Ignatius.
The Future 50
Edwards Lifesciences was named to FORTUNE magazine’s first FORTUNE Future 50 list, which is a forward-looking measure that ranks the 50 U.S.-listed companies with the best prospects for growth. Of 2,300 public companies assessed, Edwards ranked #7 on the “25 Leaders” list for companies “with massive market values that have the potential and capacity to keep growing at a rapid pace despite their scale.”
Forbes 2017 America's Most Trustworthy Companies
In 2017, Forbes named Edwards Lifesciences as one of America’s Most Trustworthy Companies, the only advanced medical equipment company in the large-cap category. Each year, Forbes takes a look at the companies that rate the most trustworthy, based on accounting and governance practices analyzed by MSCI ESG Research.
Better Investing Top 200 Company
In 2017, Edwards Lifesciences ranked among the 200 most popular and widely held stocks by active club investors in today’s equity market, according to the National Association of Investors Corporation. Edwards ranked #148 with investment clubs holding shares worth more $3 million at the end of 2017. Since 1951, BetterInvesting has helped over 5 million people become better, more informed investors. Its mission is to provide programs of sound investment information, education and support to help individual investors take control of their financial security.
Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are a family of best-in-class benchmarks for investors who have recognized that sustainable business practices are critical to generating long-term shareholder value and who wish to reflect their sustainability convictions in their investment portfolios. The family was launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmark and tracks the stock performance of the world's leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. Only the top ranked companies within each industry are selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index family. Edwards Lifesciences was added to the DJSI North America Sustainability Index in 2017.
2017 Constituent MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes
MSCI provides investors globally with ESG indexes designed to facilitate clients’ integration of ESG considerations into their investment process. The indexes use a best-in-class approach by only selecting companies that have the highest MSCI ESG Ratings. The MSCI ACWI ESG Leaders Index is a capitalization weighted index that provides exposure to companies with high Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance relative to their sector peers. MSCI ACWI ESG Leaders Index consists of large and mid-cap companies across 23 Developed Markets and 24 Emerging Markets countries.
2017 Constituent MSCI SRI Indexes
The MSCI Europe SRI Index includes large and mid-cap stocks across 15 Developed Markets countries in Europe. The index is a capitalization weighted index that provides exposure to companies with outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) ratings and excludes companies whose products have negative social or environmental impacts. The Index is designed for investors seeking a diversified Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) benchmark comprised of companies with strong sustainability profiles while avoiding companies incompatible with values screens.
