At Edwards Lifesciences, we have one thing in mind when we create our advanced tissue valves - your patients' healthy futures. Which is why you can rely on us to provide greater durability through advances such as new tissue processing technology, design enhancements and proven performance. - The purpose of low-pressure fixation is to maintain leaflet flexibility. This results in reduced compression of the tissue, a mechanical stress that has been linked to calcification. The Carpentier-Edwards S.A.V. valve is fixed at a low pressure which preserves the tissue flexibility and the natural valve geometry.
- Research shows that removing phospholipids is an important factor in reducing calcification. The Edwards XenoLogiX treatment removes up to 95% of the phospholipids present in tissue valves. And unlike other treatments, whose long-term binding stability might be questionable, the effects of the patented XenoLogiX treatment are long lasting.*
- Supra-annular placement of the S.A.V. valve yields an orifice area that is comparable to the patient's annulus - a 20 to 30% increase in area as compared to valves implanted in the intra-annular position.
- The design, materials and advanced tissue processing of the S.A.V. valve have resulted in a valve with proven long-term durability. Fifteen-year freedom from structural valve deterioration of valves implanted in patients 70+ years is 94.6%.
*No clinical data are available which evaluates the long-term impact of the XenoLogiX treatment in patients. |
