Who We Are
Edwards Lifesciences is the global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring. Driven by a passion to help patients, the company partners with clinicians to develop innovative technologies in the areas of structural heart disease and critical care monitoring that enable them to save and enhance lives.
Our history dates back to 1958 when Miles “Lowell” Edwards partnered with Dr. Albert Starr to develop the world’s first replacement heart valve. This was the catalyst for developing many life-saving and enhancing technologies that have transformed patient care and kept Edwards at the forefront of innovation. Now, more than 50 years later, Edwards has grown into a global company with a presence in approximately 100 countries and approximately 8,500 employees around the world. Each one of them is dedicated to furthering Lowell’s original vision to help clinicians, patients and their families work together as a community united in fighting cardiovascular disease and providing technologies for the critically ill.
