IRVINE, CA, January 11, 2010 -- Edwards Lifesciences Corporation (NYSE: EW), the global leader in the science of heart valves and hemodynamic monitoring, announced today that in an effort to make its clinically validated critical care parameters more widely accessible through licensing, it has signed its first agreement with Philips Healthcare to enable the integration of its oximetry technology with the Philips IntelliVue patient monitors.

"This new agreement is designed to enable clinicians to conveniently obtain the valuable parameters provided by our sensors and catheters through a variety of monitors," said Carlyn D. "In this way, we intend to improve clinical work flow by reducing the number of monitors required per patient, and enabling easier integration with electronic medical records."

Through this collaboration, a module has been developed to facilitate compatibility of Edwards' advanced monitoring technology with the industry's leading range of patient monitors. Edwards' full-line of oximetry catheters, including PreSep, PediaSat and Swan-Ganz, will be used with the Philips IntelliVue MP40 through MP90 patient monitors.
