2012 Quality Scholarship Program Program Overview The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a graduating high school student in Orange County who demonstrates scholastic achievement through the pursuit of higher education. Up to five students will each be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1,000, which will be paid directly to an accredited university, college, vocational school, or junior college to which the student has been accepted. The scholarship recipients will also have an opportunity to visit the Edwards Lifesciences campus in Irvine. At Edwards, we value our university talent, and as a result love to hear back from our schoalrship recipients for optential internship opportunities in the future! Scholarship applications need to be recieved by Edwards no later than Tuesday, May 29, 2012. The scholarship recipient will be notified by Tuesday, July 3, 2012, with the award being presented at the Edwards Lifesciences Quality Scholarship Award Ceremony on the Irvine campus Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Deadline Candidates must submit the completed application via email OR postmail. Eligibility and Qualifications
The scholarship is open to high school seniors in the Orange County, California area. The applicant must be planning and eligible to continue his or her education at an accredited university, college, vocational school, or junior college within the 2012-2013 school year.
Candidates must complete the scholarship application and submit a letter of recommendation. Students may receive the scholarship from Edwards only once.
Criteria for Selection
Applicants will be evaluated through an essay on Quality. Scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and letter of recommendation will also be considered. The application packet will be reviewed by a panel of judges.

Scholarship Administration
Scholarship recipients will not receive cash. Payment will be made directly to the educational institution and will be applied toward tuition only. The scholarship recipient will provide accurate information to the Edwards contact, including student ID number and name/address of the contact in the student’s high school administration office.

Application Instructions
It is the responsibility of the applicant to complete all steps of the application procedure. No application will be considered complete until all information requested is provided. A complete application must contain the following items: - The completed Scholarship Application Form
- An unofficial transcript at the time of submission of the applicant’s academic record
- A resume/curriculum vitae outlining items such as community service, extracurricular activities or work experience
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher/faculty, person from the community, or employer (but not a relative). See Recommendation Form
- Quality essay
- A minimum of 500 to a maximum of 1,000 words - The essay should discuss any aspect of Quality. Please see part 4 of the application for more detail. The content of the essay should be written independently and should not be copied from public domain. An incomplete application (if any of the above is missing) will automatically be disqualified.
