Michael A. Mussallem

Michael A. Mussallem, age 56, has been chairman and CEO since 2000. Prior to 2000, Mussallem held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility in engineering, product development and senior management at Baxter International Inc., including group vice president of its CardioVascular business from 1994 to 2000 and group vice president of the Biopharmaceutical business from 1998 to 2000. From 1996 until 1998, he was the chairman of Baxter's Asia Board overseeing Baxter's operations throughout Asia. Mussallem received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and was conferred an honorary doctorate by his alma mater in 1999. Mussallem is chairman of the board of directors of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed). He is also on the boards and executive committees of the California Healthcare Institute and OCTANe, and is a trustee of the University of California, Irvine Foundation. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and an honorary doctorate from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Donald E. Bobo, Jr., age 47, is responsible for the surgical heart valve business, including tissue replacement and repair devices. Bobo has over 25 years of experience in the medical products and healthcare industry where he most recently served as Edwards’ vice president and general manager of transcatheter mitral repair and as vice president, corporate strategy. Prior to joining Edwards, he served as director, general manager of the non-invasive monitoring business unit of InnerSpace, a medical device startup company. Lastly, from 2001 to 2006, Bobo served as a director and board member of PLC Medical, a publicly traded medical device company located in Boston. Bobo holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Bob Jones University and a master's degree in engineering from the University of Southern California.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Loras College and received his master’s in business administration from Loyola University in Chicago.

Corinne H. Nevinny, age 49, is corporate vice president and the general manager of the company’s Cardiac Surgery Systems and Vascular business units, and also has responsibility for Canada. Prior to assuming her current position, she was responsible for the company’s global operations. Previously, Nevinny served as chief financial officer and treasurer. Before joining Edwards in 2003, Nevinny was on the company’s board of directors and was vice president, chief financial officer of Tularik, Inc., a company involved in the discovery and development of drugs based on gene regulation, which was sold to Amgen, Inc. in 2004. Prior to joining Tularik, she was executive director - Health Care Group at Warburg Dillon Read LLC, an investment bank. Nevinny received her undergraduate degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University and her master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School. Nevinny is a director of Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Robert C. Reindl, age 54, is responsible for Edwards’ human resources. When he joined the company in 1993, he was responsible for Baxter’s Institute for Training and Development, and became vice president, human resources, for Baxter's CardioVascular business in 1997. Previously, Reindl was a manager with Arthur Andersen & Co., where he consulted internally on a variety of human resource and organizational development issues, as well as designed management development training. He has also been a communications instructor for Marietta College and Ohio University. Reindl earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Carlyn D. Solomon, age 46, is responsible for Edwards’ global market-leading Critical Care business, as well as corporate quality and regulatory affairs. Solomon has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the medical device, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining Edwards in 2005, he served in a number of positions with increasing responsibility at Baxter, including interim president of the company’s $3 billion BioScience division, vice president of global manufacturing, and vice president of global operations. During his tenure at Baxter, the organization received numerous awards for manufacturing and operational excellence, and was instrumental in developing revolutionary technologies. Solomon has served as an executive board member for the California Manufacturers and Technology Association and the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association. He also served on the board of directors for The Baxter International Foundation. Solomon earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Kansas State University.

Huimin Wang, M.D., age 52, has been responsible for the company’s Japan and intercontinental regions since 2000. Previously, he was a representative director of Baxter Limited, a Japan corporation, through September 2002. Wang joined Baxter in 1993 and served as a senior manager of strategy development and, later, director of product/therapy for Baxter’s Renal division in Japan. In 1997, he became president of medical systems and devices, responsible for both the Cardiovascular and Intravenous Systems businesses in Japan. Prior to joining Baxter, Wang was a senior associate with Booz, Allen & Hamilton in Chicago; vice president of Integrated Strategies Inc., a consulting and venture management firm he co-founded; and an associate with McKinsey & Company. From 1981 until 1986, Wang was a resident and staff physician in anesthesiology at Keio University Hospital in Tokyo. Wang has been chairman of the American Medical Devices and Diagnostics Manufacturers’ Association (AMDD) since April 2009. Additionally in 2006, Wang was appointed as visiting associate professor for Keio University's department of anesthesiology. Wang earned his doctor of medicine degree from Kagoshima University in Japan, and his master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago.

Previously, Abate had been operating as the company’s corporate controller, and served an instrumental role in the company's spin-off from Baxter in 2000. He also served as group controller for Baxter's CardioVascular Group and worked in a global capacity as vice president of finance for Clintec International, a joint venture with Baxter and Nestle based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Previously, he was senior vice president, general counsel for Safeskin Corporation, a San Diego-based manufacturer of latex and synthetic gloves for the healthcare and scientific markets. Prior to that, he was vice president, general counsel of Tambrands Inc., now part of The Procter & Gamble Company. Garren was with the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. from 1980 to 1985. He received his undergraduate degree from Antioch College and his law degree from Cornell Law School.

Prior to joining Cordis, he was director of quality at CR Bard’s USCI and electrophysiology divisions. McGrath received a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, a master’s degree in total quality management from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, and a PhD in Management from California Coast University.

Paul C. Redmond, age 45, is corporate vice president, global corporate operations, which includes responsibility for global supply chain, environmental health & safety, facilities, information technologies, process excellence and global operations strategy. Prior to his current role, he was corporate vice president and general manager of Edwards’ Cardiac Surgery Systems and has also served as general manager of the company's Vascular business unit. He has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. Prior to joining the company in 2007, Redmond was vice president, CardioVascular Technologies (CVT), at Cordis Cardiology, a Johnson & Johnson company. In this position, he was responsible for the leadership of the CVT business unit and had the oversight of planning, coordination and execution of product management and marketing activities, sales, manufacturing and supply chain for CVT products. Redmond also served as vice president, new product development, at Cordis and has worked for BMR Neurotech, Boston Scientific and other companies in the U.S. and Europe. Redmond received his bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and also completed the IEP program at I.N.S.E.A.D., in Paris and Singapore.

Stanton J. Rowe, age 57, has been chief scientific officer since 2008 and also serves as corporate vice president, advanced technology. He joined the company in 2004 when Edwards acquired Percutaneous Valve Technology Inc., of which he was president and CEO and helped to found in 1999. Previously, Rowe was corporate vice president of business development and strategic planning for Datascope Corp. and was vice president of business development for Johnson & Johnson’s Interventional Systems Division (JJIS), responsible for the company’s coronary stent development efforts. At JJIS and the related Cordis Corporation, Rowe held a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including heading the company’s business development, advanced technology, worldwide clinical research, and marketing groups. Rowe joined Cordis after having held several positions in product management for various medical device companies. He is on the board of directors of both Remon Medical Ltd. and Biomerix Corp, and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.

Patrick B. Verguet, age 51, has been corporate vice president, Europe since 2004. Previously, he served as vice president of sales and country management in Europe. Verguet has more than 20 years of medical device experience beginning with Travenol in France, and held several sales and marketing management positions within Baxter Europe. Over the years, he served the company as global business director for hemofiltration and business unit / country manager for operations in the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, and Nordic Countries. Verguet also served as general manager of Edwards’ Research Medical operations in Utah, and as vice president and general manager of Edwards’ Cardiac Surgery Systems franchise in Irvine. He holds a degree as a Doctor in Pharmacy from the University of Besançon.

Larry L. Wood

Larry Wood, age 43, is responsible for the company’s key initiatives in transcatheter heart valve replacement. These responsibilities include a team in Irvine as well as in Israel. Most recently, Wood served as vice president and general manager responsible for the valve replacement programs within the Percutaneous Valve Interventions department. Wood joined the company in 1985, progressing through a variety of increasingly responsible positions including various positions in manufacturing management, regulatory affairs, and strategic and clinical marketing.
